Karen Iversen Vaughn, née le 21 juillet 1944 à New York, est l'ancienne présidente de la Southern Economics Association et de la Society for the Development of Austrian Economics. Elle est l'auteur de plusieurs articles sur l'école autrichienne d'économie et un livre, souvent référencé, sur la migration des économistes de l'école autrichienne aux États-Unis.

Elle a été diplomée en 1966 (B.A. Queens College, CUNY) puis en 1969 (M.A) et, en 1971, par un doctorat à l'Université Duke. De 1978 à 1994, elle était rédactrice en chef de la revue "History of Economics Society Bulletin". Elle a fait partie du comité éditorial de nombreuses revues scientifiques : History of Political Economy, Journal of the History of Economic Thought, Advances in Austrian Economics. Elle est actuellement professeur à la George Mason University à Fairfax.

Ses écrits tournent autour des sujets de l'école autrichienne d'économie, de la théorie économique, de l'histoire de la pensée économique. Elle travaille actuellement sur une vision féministe de l'économie de marché.
