David L. Prychitko, né le 22 juin 1962, est professeur d'économie à l'université de Northern Michigan (USA). Appartenant à l'école autrichienne d'économie, il était l'étudiant de Don Lavoie. C'est un spécialiste de l'économie marxienne.
Il a étudié à la Northern Michigan University, il rejoint la George Mason University où il a obtenu son Ph.D. en économie. David L. Prychitko a enseigné au département d'économie à l'Université d'État de New York à Oswego. Il fut le récipiendaire de la bourse de recherche, Fulbright, à la Faculté de Philosophie de l'Université de Zagreb, en Yougoslavie, du mois de Janvier jusqu'au mois de Juillet 1989.
En 1994, il contribue à l'élaboration d'une encyclopédie synthéthique dont le directeur de collection est Peter Boettke. Dans un article sur la praxéologie[1], il admet le bien fondé épistémologique et ontologique de la démarche. L'anticipation subjective est conforme à une ontologie causale où la catégorie "Action humaine" établit des propriétés de cause à effet entre deux périodes estimées pour atteindre un certain objectif avec des moyens particuliers.
Mais, David Prychitko aspire à un assouplissement méthodologique. Les économistes néo-classiques et autrichiens partagent la même démarche de l'individualisme méthodologique. Cependant, insiste David Prychitko, l'école autrichienne dispose d'une avancée particulière et pertinente, une philosophie fondée sur la praxis. C'est pourquoi, il attise notre attention sur une discipline paronyme et quelquefois homonyme de la praxéologie, à savoir la praxiologie pour comprendre les origines, les limites et les extensions possibles de la praxéologie.
