John Hospers, né le 9 juin 1918 et mort le 12 juin 2011, est un philosophe libertarien américain.
Il fut professeur de philosophie à l'université de Californie du Sud, au College Brooklyn et à l'Université d'État de Californie à Los Angeles. Il est diplômé de l'Université de l'Iowa et de l'université de Columbia. Il a enseigné la philosophie et l'esthétique. Il fut rédacteur en chef de la revue The Personalist (1968-1982) et de la revue The Monist (1982-1992). Il est depuis 1987, rédacteur en chef du magazine Liberty. Il est l'auteur de nombreux ouvrages et articles sur l'esthétique, l'éthique et la philosophie politique.
En 1961, il rencontre Ayn Rand, avec laquelle il se lie d'amitié. Il devient le premier candidat aux élections présidentielles des États-Unis pour le Parti libertarien américain en 1972. Il rassemble alors 3674 suffrages exprimés.
