Gene Callahan, né en 1959, est un auteur américain, affilié à l'école autrichienne d'économie, passionné de technologie web. Il est chercheur adjoint au Ludwig von Mises Institute, et membre de l'association Michael Oakeshott. Il est l'auteur de deux livres Economics for Real People et PUCK. Originaire du Connecticut, Gene Callahan est diplômé de la London School of Economics.

Gene Callahan a contribué à l'écriture de nombreux articles dans diverses revues comme Reason Magazine, The Freeman, The Free Market, Slick Times, Java Developer's Journal, Software Development, Dr. Dobb's Journal, Human Rights Review, Independent Review, NYU Journal of Law and Liberty, Review of Austrian Economics. il participe régulièrement au site de LewRockwell.com.

Dans son ouvrage, Economics for real people, il présente clairement les idées économiques, comme l'avait fait si brillamment ses prédécesseurs, Henry Hazlitt, dans Economics in One Lesson et Frédéric Bastiat dans Ce qu'on voit et ce qu'on ne voit pas.
