Gary Kilgore North est né en 1942. Il est le gendre de Rousas J. Rushdoony, un des fondateurs de l'Église reconstructionniste chrétienne. Il est président de l'Institut économique chrétien. Gary North est également un économiste de l'école autrichienne. Il fut économiste au Pacific Coast Coin Exchange et il a donné des conférences aux séminaires de la Foundation for Economic Education.
Biographie
Gary North a obtenu son doctorat d'histoire économique à l'université de Californie de Riverside en 1972 en soutenant sa thèse (The concept of property in Puritan New England, 1630-1720). Dès 1967, il a été un participant à la revue libertarienne The Freeman.
Autour des années 2000, il fut l'un des "catastrophistes" les plus en vue concernant le "bug de l'an 2000", allant jusqu'à recommander des mesures survivalistes.
Gary North souhaite l'abolition du Système de crédit bancaire actuel aux États-Unis qui est inflationniste et il propose un retour à l'étalon-or.
