John Blundell (né le 9 octobre 1952 à Congleton, Royaume-Uni) est un économiste britannique. Il est le directeur général de l'Institute of Economic Affairs où il est également le Ralph Harris Fellow. Il a été vice-président de la société du Mont-Pèlerin. Il a été un acteur important de la diffusion des idées libérales par sa participation active à la gestion ou à la création de plusieurs thinks tanks libéraux.

Présentation

Il suit des études à la King's School de Macclesfield puis rejoint la London School of Economics. Diplômé, il entre au service des relations extérieures de la Federation of Small Businesses qui représente les PME britannique. Il dirige le service entre 1977 et 1982 tout en devenant conseiller municipal au conseil de Lambeth Borough. De 1982 à 1993, il vit aux États-Unis où il préside l'Institute for Humane Studies. A partir de 1987 et jusqu'en 1991, il dirige l'Atlas Economic Research Foundation puis divers organismes.

Le 1er janvier 1993, il devient directeur général de l'Institute of Economic Affairs, le principal think tank libéral britannique, fondé en 1955 à Londres. Il continue à siéger au board d'organisations dont une faculté de la George Mason University, l'une des universités les plus libérales des États-Unis.
