Madsen Pirie, né le 24 août 1940, est un chercheur et écrivain britannique. Il est le président-fondateur de l'Adam Smith Institute, un des principaux think tanks britanniques.

Il est diplômé des universités d'Edinbourg, de St Andrews et de Cambridge. Lors de ses études à St Andrews, il travaille avec Eamonn Butler and Stuart Butler. En 1973, ils partent tous trois aux États-Unis avec Edwin Feulner, qui fonde la même année l'Heritage Foundation. A leur retour, ils fondent en 1977 l'Adam Smith Institute, qui jouera un rôle important dans la montée du thatchérisme.
