John Hasnas est un professeur de droit et d'éthique à Georgetown University.

Diplômé en philosophie en 1974 (B.A) au Lafayette College, puis en 1978 (J.D.) et en 1988 (PHD) au Duke University School of Law, il poursuivit ses études en droit et de certifier ses savoirs en 1992 par un LL.M. au Temple University School of Law.

Il a commencé à enseigner à Arlington, Université du Texas, en 1987, en tant que professeur assistant de philosophie avant de se diriger en 1989 au Temple University School of Law. En 1991, il devient professeur assistant d'ethique des affaires et professeur adjoint de Droit et de philosophie à l'université de Georgetown. En 1997, il rejoint la société Koch Industries, Inc., en tant que conseiller. Il reste deux ans à ce poste avant d'être appelé par la George Mason University School of Law qu'il quittera en 2005. A ce moment là, il rejoint l'université de Georgetown pour enseigner l'éthique des affaires, la criminalité des cols blancs, la responsabilité sociale des affaires et les obligations éthiques et légales des dirigeants. Il a en particulier publié avec l'aide du Cato Institute Trapped: When Acting Ethically Is Against the Law, qui analyse les effets pervers de la loi.
