Andrew E. Bernstein est né le 29 juin 1949. Il est membre du réseau de la faculté FEE (Foundation for Economic Education) et il contribue à la rédaction d'articles dans le magazine The Objective Standard. Il est titulaire d'un doctorat (Ph.D.) en philosophie de la Graduate School de la City University of New York et a enseigné au Pace University et au SUNY Purchase. Il fut l'auteur en 2005 du Manifeste capitaliste : le cas historique, économique et philosophique pour l'analyse du Laissez-Faire et de l'objectivisme en une leçon en 2009. Il a publié également un roman, Cœur d'un païen en 2002.

Andrew Bernstein a donné des conférences à l'Université de Harvard, à la Duke University, à l'Université de Yale, à l'Université de Stanford, à l'United States Military Academy, au Founders College, à l'Université de Californie du Sud et ailleurs. Il a enseigné au Marist College, au SUNY Purchase et à la Pace University.

Il est affilié à l'Institut Ayn Rand, et il est connu pour sa défense publique de l'objectivisme. Professeur de philosophie, il a rédigé les « Cliffs notes » des livres d'Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead et Anthem. Ses éditoriaux sont parus dans diverses publications comme The San Francisco Chronicle, The Chicago Tribune, le Baltimore Sun, l'Atlanta Constitution, le Washington Times, le Los Angeles Daily News et le Houston Chronicle.
