Jan Narveson

Jan Narveson est né à Erskine, dans le Minnesota, aux USA, en 1936. Il est professeur de philosophie à l'université de Waterloo, dans l'Ontario au Canada. Il a étudié à l'université de Chicago où il a obtenu un B.A. en Science Politique et en philosophie. Puis, il a obtenu un doctorat à l'Université d'Havard en 1961. De tendance anarcho-capitaliste contractualiste, il est fortement influencé par la pensée de Robert Nozick, de David Gauthier et d'Anthony de Jasay.

Jan Narveson assimile la liberté et les droits de propriété privée en faisant valoir que la liberté n'est en fait que la propriété. Dans son livre écrit en 1988, "L'idée libertarienne", Jan Narveson s'inspire des travaux contractualistes de David Gauthier et de Robert Nozick. Il discute à la fois de la théorie libertarienne et de son application aux controverses contemporaines telles que les droits des enfants, les lois de zonage et la défense nationale.
