Ludwig M. P. van den Hauwe est un économiste qui, après avoir obtenu des diplômes dans les domaines du droit, de la philosophie et de l´économie financière, a reçu le doctorat (PhD) de l'Université de Paris . Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages et articles de référence. Ainsi, il a publié, entre autres, Foundations of Business Cycle Research - en deux volumes - et Three Essays in Monetary Theory.

Ses contributions en théorie monétaire s'inspirent des travaux des principaux théoriciens de l'économie de marché. Ses recherches en économie portent également sur le sujet des possibles liens qui peuvent être établis entre l'économie de l'information et la théorie des systèmes monétaires et bancaires concurrentiels.
