Rudy van Zijp, né en 1961, est enseignant, en économie, à l'Université libre d'Amsterdam. Il a soutenu une thèse en 1992, sous la direction des Professeurs H. Visser et N. B. de Marchi, Austrian and new classical business cycle theories.
