Clint Eastwood (né le 31 mai 1930 à San Francisco, Californie) est un acteur américain et un libertarien convaincu.
Il a joué dans une soixantaine de films, parmi lesquels : Pour une poignée de dollars, Et pour quelques dollars de plus, Le Bon, la brute et le truand, Pendez-les haut et court, L'Inspecteur Harry, L'Homme des hautes plaines, L'Epreuve de force, L'Évadé d'Alcatraz, Firefox, l'arme absolue, Pale Rider, La Dernière cible, Chasseur blanc, coeur noir, Impitoyable, Dans la ligne de mire, Sur la route de Madison, Space Cowboys.
Il a par ailleurs réalisé une trentaine de films, parmi lesquels : L'Homme des hautes plaines, La Sanction, L'Epreuve de force, Honkytonk Man, Bronco Billy, Pale Rider, Le Maître de guerre, Chasseur blanc, coeur noir, Impitoyable, Un Monde parfait, Sur la route de Madison, Minuit dans le jardin du bien et du mal, Les Pleins pouvoirs, Juste cause, Space Cowboys, Créance de sang, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby.
Il mène aussi une vie politique (il a été maire de 1986 à 1988 de la ville de Carmel, en Californie). Dans le film les Pleins Pouvoirs, il prétend que même le Président des États-Unis peut être un criminel, et s'intéresse également beaucoup à la musique d'où le film Bird qui retrace la vie du jazzman Charlie Parker. Il est également le producteur de Straight no chaser (1989) un documentaire sur Thélonious Monk.

Eastwood: I like the libertarian view, which is to leave everyone alone. Even as a kid, I was annoyed by people who wanted to tell everyone how to live.
McCafferty: As an ex-politician, does that extend to your view of same-sex marriages? That could be the polarizing issue of the presidential race.
Eastwood: From a libertarian point of view, you would say, "Yeah? So what?" You have to believe in total equality. People should be able to be what they want to be and do what they want -- as long as they're not harming people.
